Greetings Democracy Prep Families,
The Family Leadership Council of Democracy Prep Congress Heights would like to bring you greetings and enthusiasm. It’s such an honor to be serving all of the families this year in hopes that we all can stay informed and engaged with making sure that our scholars are successful.
One of our goals this year at DPCH is to motivate and engage parents to ensure that the school, our scholars and families are all aligned. With this goal in mind, we are welcoming and encouraging all parents to actively participate on our Family Leadership Council.
The FLC is a family leadership arm of DPCH, led by parents and supported by the school. The FLC promotes school/home life, safety, and advocacy. Together we will plan events (such as 5K Walk for a Cure, serving food in shelters and more of your ideas), build relationships with the DPCH community and ensure that our scholars “Work Hard, Go to College and Change the World.”
So if you are ready to join this council of family leaders supporting parent engagement and scholar success, please fill out the form below:

Dear Democracy Prep Congress Heights Families,
The staff has been very busy this summer preparing for the 2015-16 school! We are excited about the new school year that is approaching and look forward to seeing all members of our Democracy Prep Family soon! The start of school can seem overwhelming, but we put important supports in place to help you and your scholar have a smooth start!
Democracy Prep Congress Heights has some specific requirements, so we can ensure all of our scholars are fully prepared to grow their brains on the path to college. In order to facilitate this process, there is a one-time mandatory supplies fee of $20 per scholar, which includes all school supplies and for the entire school year. If you have more than one scholar (family of 2 or more) in our school, the supplies fee will be $40.
Each scholar is responsible for providing his/her own backpack as well as a set of necessary school supplies to complete their daily homework at home. The school will provide the essential supplies to be successful throughout the school year such as paper, pencils, folders, tissues, etc. for the school year.
Please bring cash to your Family Orientation (dates are on the back) in order to pay the supplies fee. All families that turn this in by September 15th will be entered into a raffle for some school swag! If you have any questions regarding this policy please contact our Registrar, Melissa Winters at 202-561-0860.
We strive to work in partnership with our families to ensure each scholar is an active part of our mission and values. With your support your scholar truly will Work Hard, Go to College and Change the World! This year we will use our new website dpch.democracyprep.org to communicate regularly with parents and families. Please check the website for important updates throughout the year to see how you can support your scholar.
Welcome to the 2015-16 Democracy Prep DREAM Team! We are so excited for the school year to start and look forward to years of positive and productive collaboration.
Get Ready for the First Day of School on August 17th!
